The Importance Of Core Values In Nursing

Leadership is an important role in a Christian’s life. Some are leaders naturally while others need to learn how to be a leader. To be a good leader, I need to know my Christian values. When I know myself, I can better my strengths while reducing my weaknesses; I can maximize my potential. There are several core values that I believe in; they assist me in my leadership role. I can align the core values with my leadership responsibilities and present them to my followers. Passion: One cannot be a great leader without any passion. I can see myself as a passionate leader who is joyous about my job and my responsibilities. Hospital procedures raise ethical issues every day. As a Christian nurse, there are many situations where I must stand my ground. I cannot overlook actions among the workers that violate the hospital policy and patient safety; I cannot participate in any procedures that violate my Christian values. As a nursing leader, I want my fellow nurses to view me as a Christian nurse who carries out my values. I want to present myself as a Christian nurse that they respect. Hopefully, they choose to comply with their own integrities and promote patient safety. Humor: I want to be nursing leader that people can joke with. Nursing care can be really exhausting and can easily burnout nurses. I want to bring joy to fellow nurses’ lives. When we experience an intense and busy night, I want to bring laughter into the shift and lighten the tension. I believe that a light tension can help my fellow nurses to perform better.
