As described in the article On what it means to be An Educated Person, a balanced mind is one in which has a three-way balance between “A basis of humility, an approach of confidence and a manner of rigor”. Having a basis of humility creates that honest ground, and it allows the individual to be open to experiences and make them more willing to stand corrected. Allowing yourself to be wrong sometimes but always being able to comprehend what 's not understood and trying to understand it is why humiliation is part of what creates that balance mind. Having confidence is a way to take in that humiliation and not let it destroy you, confidence is what keeps people open to taking risks and throwing yourself at the difficult problems.
