A food taster is a person that ingests food or drink that is to be served to someone else to confirm that it is safe to eat. The person to whom the food is going to be served is usually an important person that will either make the establishment or person very popular or have a bad reputation. However, there are a selected few who have become supertaster. So what makes a supertaster superior over a regular taster and how does the following sense of vision, hearing, smell, taste, and touch play a role for supertaster. Supertasters are identified by the number of fungiform papillae on their tongue. However, that just one of the key component of becoming one; A supertaster must have all of the five sense. The first sense is vision. Vision has always been an important role in the past and present. The appearance of presentations of food is a factor and critical element in many countries. However, this is usually seen in fancier restaurant which would make it the disadvantage because as of now it all depends on customer appreciation whether the food taste good or not. The advantage of vision would be being able to give a more descriptive visual interpretation of the food over the average person. Vision appeals more to the wealthy rather than the average person. The advantage of tasting is that imagine various tastes in your flavor in one mouth. Each taste is a masterful blend of flavors. For supertasters it is like a paradise; being able to experience greater intensity of flavors than an average taster. However there are disadvantages. For instance, supertasters care too much for their tongue they avoid certain foods that would bring harm to their tongue. Avoid cigarettes because they don’t want the chemical of cigarettes harming their tongue.
