Each and everyone of us is an intricate human being. We all have different strengths and flaws, including Santiago. As naive as he is, he has a strong sense of faith that supports throughout his journey. All of the differing traits he obtains shape him into the person he began, and evolved into. Santiago occupies many positive character traits that ameliorate his opportunities in his journey. Most importantly, his strong sense of faith carries him throughout the story. He is faced with a significant amount of danger while exploring new territories, both physically and emotionally.
