“My wife will not die for me! I will bring your guts into your mouth but that goodness will not die for me.” In The Crucible, John Proctor is a dynamic character throughout the story. He is a local farmer in Salem and he is portrayed as an outcast. The only downfall to him is that he is hiding a big secret which is his affair with Abigail Williams. Despite the fact that he cheated on his wife, Proctor was a good man. John Proctor and I have similar personality traits that include being a hard worker, caring, and open minded.
First, being hardworking is one trait both John Proctor and I share. John is the type of person that never gives up. He would plow his fields on the good days even if that day was Sunday. He works hard to provide for his

Even though John Proctor had an affair with another woman, he still really cares about his wife Elizabeth. He is willing to do whatever it takes to win her trust and love back. He listens to her advice more than he did in the past. Elizabeth encouraged John to go to the court and tell them that Abigail said that nothing revolved around witchcraft. He cares for Elizabeth so he does what he can to please her. I care for others very often. I currently volunteer at Westmoreland Hospital so I care for people all day long. The majority of people at the hospital are unable to care for themselves so I go around from floor to floor and assist them in whatever task they need accomplished. The tasks range from going to get them water or food to just talking to them if are having a bad day. Another example relating to myself is taking care of my family. For the majority of the times, I take care of my younger sister. Even though she is in middle school, she does not know how to work the stove so occasionally I will make her something to eat. I also make sure that she gets off the bus everyday. She thinks of me watching over her as annoying now, but one day she will she that I am just looking out for …show more content…
An example of John being open minded includes him being open to ideas of what and who to tell about the affair to in order to make his situation better. Since the affair, John is at the point where he will do whatever he can to make Elizabeth happy. He is taking every piece of advice she is telling him and following through with it. Elizabeth tells him that more help is needed than Cheevers and that he should go directly to Abigail. As I mentioned in the beginning of the paper, I would like to become a doctor when I get older. I have tried not to limit myself to only that type of mindset. A little over a month ago, I applied to Westinghouse Honors Institute Engineering Workshops because anything could happen at any point in time. I could have some life changing event that alters my path I want to take, but the thing is the future is so unpredictable. I have even shadowed my local pediatric dentist to get a feel for that type of profession. I like to keep an open mind for what career I possible might want to go into when I am older. In order to do this, I like to try new things to see where I stand. In addition, I am very open minded when it comes to soccer. Ever since I was younger, I have had an obsession with playing goalie and defense. My dad was the goalie coach and that drove my passion even more toward the direction of goalie. One day, I just lost interest, but I am starting to
