Body paragraph 2 – Characters
Main Characters:
The Little Prince – a mysterious, charming extraterrestrial who the author believes to inhabit asteroid B-612. The prince leaves his planet because he gets suffocated by the clamorousness and vanity of his friend, the rose. He is a sociable child who is unimpressed by the attitude of grown-ups. During his travels to other asteroids, he misses his rose. While on earth, he realizes that his rose if the most important in the world for him because it is unique to him alone.
The author – a lonely pilot who doesn’t like the company of adults because of their too much sensibility. As a child, he was always discouraged by adults hence, his inclinations were suppressed and he was forced to be just like …show more content…
He makes the prince realize what is truly important in the latter’s life. He teaches him a very important lesson in life: only the heart can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye. Through their friendship the fox made the prince realize that the most important thing for the prince is his single rose because she is unique and he is responsible for her.
The snake – the first creature the prince meets on earth. The prince finds him funny at first and wonders why he speaks in riddles. He tells the prince that he can solve all of them. The snake tells the prince he is so powerful he can send him back to his home if the time come he desires it. At the end of the story, he swiftly bites the prince to send the latter home.
The king – a proud ruler who, though he thinks all men are his subjects, nobody to rule over. Though he is aware that his power as king is absolute, he also tries to be reasonable. He explains that he has the right to require obedience because his orders are reasonable. He asks the prince to stay in his planet and offers him tasks but the prince refuses to stay. At one point he tells the prince that the most difficult to judge is the self for if one succeeds in judging himself rightly, then he is a man of wisdom. He thinks that the passengers are never satisfied to what they are and where they are thus always leaving from one place to another. He sees that only the children can appreciate the train rides and the adults are too busy to appreciate the beauty of the surroundings during their trips.
The merchant - the sales person who sells pills that quench thirst and save people fifty-three minutes per day.
The rosebushes – hundreds of beautiful roses who look like the prince’s lone rose. Meeting them made the prince sad because he thought his rose is just ordinary and that makes him an insignificant prince,
The three-petaled flower – She lives alone in the desert and seldom sees people around that is why she tells the prince that people are creatures with no roots that is why they are blown by the wind.
The Turkish astronomer – the first man to discover asteroid B-612 which the author believes to be the home of the little prince. When the Turkish astronomer first presented his discovery to the people, they did not believe him because of his Turkish costume. After sometime, he is able to present his discovery again wearing European clothes and this time people believed
