One of the main characters, George, in the novel Of Mice and Men, is patient, understanding, and brave. He demonstrates these qualities when he acts like a parent to Lennie. George shows his patience through dialogue when he tells Lennie, ?Good boy. That?s swell. You say that over two or three times so you sure won?t forget it? (p. 6). He reinforces his willingness to work with his companion a little later in the novel when he coaches, ?Good boy! That?s fine, Lennie! Maybe you?re gettin? better? (p. 15). George understands that Lennie needs to hear things more than once to comprehend and remember what he?s told.
