` Ayn Rand, an author of precise themes and storylines, initially wrote Anthem praising a person's individuality in a society where nobody is individual. During this literature, character Equality 7-2521 learns there is much more to know than what he has been told. This story establishes the facts on a society where everyone is held equal, to the point where first person does not exist. Throughout the novel Anthem, Ayn Rand shows the development of Equality 7-2521’s individualism through inventions, journey’s, and love. As the story of Equality begins, he becomes to start finding himself with his invention of electricity. As to start, Equality 7-2521 was given the job as a street sweeper and soon finds himself with a friend named International 4-8818. Equality begins developing independence through the discovery of an abandoned railroad where he soon makes electricity. Thereafter being denied of his electricity by the House of the Scholars, Equality runaways toward the Uncharted Forest to live on this own. As to bring to and end, Liberty 5-3000 had followed and confessed her love towards Equality, hoping their love grows to become larger; an independent love. This novel can be compared to today's world for during the time period in which Ayn Rand grew up (1917), she experienced first-hand Collectivist Russia. She would soon take her ambition of being an author to write this story, Anthem, where society was declining, deprived, and at loss.
