Life isn’t always what we expect it to be and often times we fantasize about the life we want to live. When we first watch She’s Having a Baby we experience a lot of hate and unknowingness of feelings about the different characters. When they do a close up of the priest’s mouth as he continues to list off things Jake will have to do, we see only his teeth and hear his stern voice. The close up of his mouth brought out more emotion to what he was saying to the

In today’s world, there is a parallel between the rapid advancement of technology and society’s morals that causes a change over time; this change can be for better or for worse. In the short story, Bloodchild, Octavia Butler shows this change in values through protagonist, Gan, as he struggles with his inner conscience when he is asked to kill an animal for the survival of the alien race. Similarly, in Girl Plugged In by Tiptree, progressions in technology allow people to control the mind of another body, which causes unrealistic attachments. Hiroto’s morals are tested in Ken Liu’s Mono No Aware, as he chooses to sacrifice himself to save the last of the human race.…

Heather Ostman’s article “The Sun Also Rises” from the Encyclopedia of the American Novel begins with an explanation of the book’s title. The Sun also Rises gets its name from Ecclesiastes, which is also quoted at the beginning of the book along with a quote from Gertrude Stein about the Lost Generation.
