Benedick was one of the dynamic characters because he underwent change. Initially, he was insecure about admitting his true feeling towards Beatrice because he associated this truth to a defeat in his 'merry war ' against her. Furthermore, this phobia of becoming a cuckold led him to firmly be against marriage. Benedick danced with Beatrice at the masked ball. He disguised himself in order to mask his identity and his feelings of love. Previously, Benedick and his two friends are joyfully welcomed back from the war and he begins another one war of wits against Beatrice. Benedick arrogantly mentions, "...But it is certain I am loved of all ladies, only you excepted and I would I could find in my heart that I had not a hard heart; for, truly, I love none ' (I.i.101-104).
