Children are taught at a young age to not ‘steal’ and ‘bully’ etc so they hopefully will be self aware of morals that is programed in their code; the boys in Lord of the Flies left all of the rules and morals behind to attempted to survive .
The characters do show the craving of power , the control of everything around, and it 's the thing that drives them to their goal to succeed in the power hierarchy. A power hungry person are mostly driven by a selfish ambition to gain favor of everyone else just how Jack succeed in overruling Ralph in leadership of everyone and in their society. The power hunger made all of them spiral out of control in their desires and emotions of rationality in their situations.
