In the play “The Tragedy of Julius Caesar,” Mark Antony contrasts Brutus. One way we can tell that Mark Antony contrasts Brutus is being that Antony is powerful it shows just how gullible Brutus really is. Another thing is since Mark Antony is a good friend and wants revenge; it proves Brutus is a backstabber. Lastly, Mark Antony stands up to Brutus and speaks at Brutus’ funeral and turns the crowd against him, and this shows that Brutus realizes what he has done is wrong. We say he is a backstabber because he and Caesar were good friends. Caesar trusted Brutus, but Brutus just got jealous of Caesar. In words of Brutus, “He was getting too powerful.” That is why he killed Caesar. He let his jealousy get the best of him and he killed his best friend. He killed their leader and the one who helped them through everything. This is why Brutus is a backstabber. Lastly, Mark Antony stands up to Brutus, and that shows that Brutus realizes what he has done was wrong. We know he realizes because he started having dreams and started seeing Caesar. He started to feel guilty and that is not good. It’s not good because during the war they had with Mark Antony, Brutus kills himself. He killed himself because he thought it would have been the right thing to do since he had killed Brutus. This is how we can tell that Brutus has finally realizes what he has done is wrong. So we know Mark Antony contrast Brutus. He contrasts Brutus in three ways. One way is Antony is powerful. Another way is Antony is a good friend.
