At the beginning of the story, the author uses the first person to show loneliness.
On page 18 “ every night I used to curl my hair but I stopped because I knew I was the Only one to see.” She stopped curling her hair because she realized no one would ever see it. She knew that she would be alone for the rest of her life so stopped trying to look good for people. On page 5 “ I thought, what's the point of writing in my journal anyway no one's ever going to read it.” This is similar to the first piece of evidence when she first realizes her loneliness.
