Third Party Intervention The main conflict between the people of Carbon Canyon and LaHood are solved due to the intervention of both the Preacher and Stockburn. Without these two characters, LaHood would have continued to passive-aggressively attack and force the people of Carbon Canyon to vacate their land. The outcome of their conflict would have probably ended up with LaHood coming out victorious if the Preacher was not a third party intervener. The Preacher and Stockburn act as Formal Interveners because they end up as outsiders who decide on the outcome of the conflict since they eventually become the representatives of the two parties so said parties don’t have to deal with each other directly. Third party intervention is beneficial
