Boyne masterfully tells the story from Bruno's perspective; clearly showing that the innocence of Bruno's childhood remains intact despite the fact that he is living on the periphery of a death camp. …show more content…

Bruno is visually representing himself trying to hold onto the belief that his dad is a good man as that belief slips away. Bruno is still trying to fit in with two groups of people that can be seen as polar opposites during World War II: the Nazis and the Jews. He’s expressing how he wants to belong to both of these groups at once, buts he’s struggling to see the Nazis as virtuous people that he wants to belong with. Since Bruno wants to fit in with a group of more agreeable people, the struggle will end in Bruno not fitting in with his father and other individuals like him. This fits in to the bigger theme of how individuals want to be viewed as similar to the group we belong with, whether to look cool or to look like a better…

The narrative, BITSP written by John Boyne is set during the Second World War and follows the footsteps of a nine-year-old boy, Bruno. Bruno and his family have moved from their house in Berlin to Auschwitz due to their fathers position as commandment. Unhappy and lonely, he goes exploring behind his house one day and finds Shmuel, and a friendship begins. Boyne has utilised the narrative conventions of characterisation and setting to highlight the themes of racism and hate, nobody is born racist and the harsh realities of war. In doing so, Boyne triumphantly illustrates that it doesn’t matter what race or religion you are you have the right to be treated the same and what goes around, comes around.…

Joaquin’s Character Description I have written my paragraph about Maria. She is Bruno’s and his family’s maid. Maria does not speak a lot with the people in the house, but Bruno talks sometimes with her. She organises all for Bruno trousers, shirts, shoes… she is overpaid according to chapter six but also Gretel said that Maria is there to obey and clean the clothes, not to talk or be friends with her. Maria thinks and knows that her opinion does not count in the house evidence of this is seen on page 56 when bruno asks maria what she thinks about moving to Out-with “Maria opened her mouth to say something and then closed it again just as quickly.…

The book, Night, by Elie Wiesel and the movie The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, demonstrates two completely different perspectives towards the Holocaust. Night, a nonfiction memoir, depicted the life and feelings of a young boy who was forced to endure the harshness and depression of a life in a death camp. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, a heartbreaking movie, based on a fictional novel, shares the inimaginable friendship of a Nazi soldier's son, Bruno, with an imprisoned Jewish boy, Shmuel. Together, they risk their lives to save the young Jew's father. Both stories share the same main topic, the Holocaust during World War II.…

Understanding the nature of man enables one to predict behavioral outcomes. Regardless of region, culture, background, or training, man either fights his most basic or primal urges or succumbs to them and the consequences of them. 1. In the film, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, the concepts of person perception, cultural and personal identities and persuasive qualities are demonstrated through Bruno and Shmuel’s friendship. We can see person perception through the two boys because at their age to each other the other is just another boy their age that they can play with in a place where they are all alone. They have none of the prejudices or assumptions about each other that those older than them would have casted on each other. Cultural and personal identity is seen through Bruno wanting to be just like his father when he is pretending to be one of the German fighter planes with his friend.…
