The main character is in this story, Sabra, comes with a bucket that they use to put water in to fix the radiator of the bus. Sabra is a young girl about to turn sixteen. She is innocent and extremely naïve. In the book it says that she has only ever traveled outside the state once and rarely leaves her family farm other than to go to school or church. She is a restless as many girls her age are. She watched the cars on the highway go by and enjoys day dreaming about places far away like Alaska or California. Sabra’s life isn’t bad, her family while strict still loves her and Sabra loves them, but she does wonder what life is like outside the farm.
