Character Analysis Of Sonny In James Baldwin's Sonny

Character Analysis The narrator has a brother who got addicted to heroin. His brother has been selling and using heroin for a long time. Despite all of the things that his brother has done, the author still helps his little brother to have a normal life after he gets out of jail. The narrator actions are very wise. He obeys his mom wishes to watch over Sonny for her. The narrator knows that he is the only person that Sonny can depend on, and that is why he is helping Sonny to get over his heroin addiction in after Sonny gets out of jail. He keeps in constant touch with Sonny after his daughter died. The author motivation is to make his little brother a better person and gives his brother a better life to live. He has to watch out for Sonny and he wants Sonny to get educated. He has to take care of his brother because not only of his mother wishes, but he also loves his brother. He sees his grown brother as a little boy in his eyes when they shake hands and smile at each other. A lot of things that he thinks he has forgotten about his brother now return to him.
