Character Analysis Of Sodapop Curtis In The Outsiders By S. E. Hinton

Improved Essays
Sodapop Curtis is a person I found interesting in the novel The Outsiders By S. E. Hinton. He really stood out to me because he reminds of people in my life.A lot of my friends relate to Sodapop, not necessarily his smarts or the things he does that is wrong. I mean his character traits. He is very sensitive, loyal, and enjoyable person. In the book, there are many example of his traits.
Loyal is a word to describe Sodapop. One way he is loyal is because he listens to ponyboy, his brother, even when ponyboy doesn’t always listens to him. While Darry and Ponyboy was fighting they talked about this. “”I thought he told you everything” “ Maybe he tried””(Hinton, 174) He enjoys his job and doesn’t want to leave. He wouldn’t let anything happen

    S. E. Hinton wrote the novel The Outsiders to present a complex theme that her characters have to deal with. She portrays an environment where characters created happiness for themselves but then have it destroyed by an action of grief. Throughout the book when one of the characters experienced joy there would also come pain. For example there was a character named Bob in The Outsiders that brought Cherry Valance comfort but when Bob died a great distress came over her which causes her to learn how to let go. In summary, one will understand that the author is trying to cast the theme that the main characters in the novel will experience delight, but it will get interrupted by agony.…

The next heroic Greaser happens to be the main character of the book. 14 year old Ponyboy Curtis is one of the youngest guys in the Greaser gang but certainly the most mature and heroic. I chose this character because I feel like I don’t respect teachers like I should. It is hard for me to pay attention, so I just act like I can’t do it. There are many days that I feel adults (including my dad) don’t listen to me. We argue a lot and disagree with each other about many things including; school, activities I like to do in my free time, and sports. I can also relate to Bender because I like to do anything to attract attention.…

If you have read the book you know that later on he also has the courage to live without two of his friends as well, one of these friends was his best friend which to him was definitely family. Ponyboy's friends were all he had and then he last about half of them as well as his parents. Ponyboy is a hero because he saved children out…
