It has been recognized as one of the “must watch Disney movies” of all times, but in all honesty, which Disney movie wouldn’t? Jammed packed with life lessons, stunning visuals and deep character arcs, make most movies stand out among the rest. One critic has mentioned that, UP is by far the most emotional human drama of any Pixar movies thus far”. It just might be exactly what one needs to accomplish a certain goal. By putting ego aside, not only will the significant other grow, but through this growth one can appreciate the presence of others. Disney has proven itself worthy as it has illustrated one of the best love stories in a mere 4.30 minutes. From Carl’s young persona all the way up to the marriage and death of his wife Ellie, life was indeed an exciting journey. Giving up their dreams of adventure just to be with each other pulls on everybody’s heart strings as that in the end meant happiness between one another. Although one is caught up with busy schedules and plans, make it a point at least once in a while, to prioritize the people that truly matter and has shown great significant in this adventure called life. Inside Out A movie “inside out” by pete docter is about how five emotions grapple the control of an 11 year old girl. I realised after watching the movie it's much more than a kids movie. It demonstrates how our mines worked by different types of emotions in this movie, the girl mind was controlled by anger, disgust, fear, sadness and joy. This emotions and many more show how we act and what we show. It shows us that we tend to deal with our emotions that we have experienced by avoiding the bad feelings and the bad problems.…

Where there is hope, there is always despair. Obstacles emerge as goals are pursued and sometimes, the biggest difficulties come from within: family. In the three Pixar films Brave, Ratatouille, and Coco, a major conflict occurs between the dreams propelled by a specific talent and the protagonist’s family. This major conflict is briefly outlined as two distinguished worlds in each film. As the two worlds clash and smash, a vague solution to the conflict is given with a far more important message.…

With the word existentialism, you have to think outside of the box on what a definition could be. Although there is a general definition described as a philosophy concerned with finding self and the meaning of life through free will, choice, and personal responsibility (“Existentialism”). I chose the movie entitled Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind. Heading into the movie I was not expecting to get any knowledge out of it but to my surprise I did. This movie is one of many great examples of existentialism.…

In film, there are both visual and sound aspects that allow the audience to know the true meaning of a story. Two aspects equally important in a modern aged film. The award winning movie Up (2009) is brilliant at combining these two aspects. The film is about an old man’s adventurous journey to forfill a promise by traveling through a floating house carried by hundreds of balloons. Today I am going to analyze a scene in the beginning of the film about Carl’s past.…

Nowadays, Disney movies are a hit or miss: it is hard to live up to the motto “a film the entire family can enjoy” with every movie. Yet, Disney made an animated masterpiece when it created a utopia for zoo animals. Zootopia is caked with humor, layers of character development, a deep understanding of how stereotypes and racism affect society as the icing on top with bits of symbolisms being the cake topper. With these features and themes, Zootopia is Disney’s latest movie to engross more than its intended children audience. First and foremost, Zootopia’s humor can be appreciated by the entire family.…

The rhetorical object I plan on analyzing is the film The Lion King, which was released on June 15, 1994. With the film grossing $987.5 million in the box office over its release (without the DVD earnings), The Lion King is currently the third highest grossing animated film in the world. A film that is world renown, by both adults and children, the film is considered a classic film that people from generations have watched. Unlike most Disney films, The Lion King was the first Disney animated film to have its own original story. The story is inspired from parts of the Bible such as the lives of Joseph and Moses.…

Tim Burton’s beautifully haunting production of ‘Edward Scissorhands’ introduces our protagonist, represented by Johnny Depp, and explores the fictional story of this solitary boy with an unfortunate seemingly threatening oddity, being thrust into a world where he is glaringly blatant in the midst of the suburbs. Despite his intimidating exterior, it is almost immediately exposed that Edward is just an innocent, childlike soul, intent on serving others. The purpose of this film was to delve into the threatening manner of suburbia and its dismissive views on originality. Burton shattered cliches and stereotypes of who ‘monsters’ are by introducing the monster in the form of townspeople. As Tim Burton’s individual ordeals are translated into…

Introduction Frozen from Disney, with a worldwide box office more than $1.2 billion, it is not only proclaimed to be the first ‘princess’ movie to enter the list of top 10 grossing animated films, as well as the first animated film in these years. The characters and music are culturally omnipresent worldwide (Maryam & Yalda, 2015). After the movie was released, Disney continued to promote it with smart marketing strategies by seizing every opportunity. Catchy soundtracks and a well-conceived storyline, high demand for merchandise and accelerating popularity with DVD and digital downloads are some of the reasons people are still talking about Frozen (Beth, 2014). In this paper, I would like to explore the three main features of this film in…

I decided to take a different approach to my critical film review. “Inside Out” is a recently new film that does not actually have an identified therapist or client. However, the main themes of the movie have many parallels to the content that we have been learning in class. “Inside Out” is a Disney Pixar movie that brings to life the five emotions (Joy, Anger, Disgust, Fear, and Sadness) of 11-year-old Riley. Life is seemingly going smoothly for Riley and her emotions.…
