From the start, I think it can be agreed upon that Napoleon dynamite is undoubtedly a unique character whether he could be characterized as a classical anti-hero or not. The strange and seemingly endless quarks he possesses all add up to give the audience, in my opinion, a mixed feeling about Napoleon. In my professional opinion though I do not believe Napoleon would fall under the categorization of an anti-hero. Napoleon just does not encourage very much sympathy from the audience, if any at all.…

Steel Magnolias is my favorite movie. This movie reflects the daily lives of six southern women with different personalities and careers. Being a southern girl I could see myself in one of the characters. M'Lynn, Truvy, Annelle, Claree, Shelby and my favorite Ouiser all had a unique personality but are alike in so many ways which is the love they have for their families, one another, and the support for each other during family crisis. They laughed together, cried together and even made jokes about one another but as friends they always made the best out of all obstacles that crossed them rather it was a happy occasion or tragic.…

McCandless could’ve lived longer or even have had a better life if he gathered some information about what to expect in Alaska or if he would of just stayed home. Even though he died nearly 25 years ago, Chris McCandless’ story does not have a clearly explained ending. In the novel Into the Wild, the author Jon Krakauer goes into depth trying to uncover McCandless’ motives for leaving his home in Annandale, Virginia and hitchhiking eventually to the Alaskan bush. Into the Wild tells McCandless’ travels throughout the US and eventually to his last days before he perishes in a bus in the Denali Borough in Alaska. In the beginning of the novel, Krakauer states that he has a bias that McCandless was a noble and honorable. Krakauer’s identification of Chris being inspirational and brave is correct.…

In Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, Christopher McCandless throws away his past life in search of happiness, which he hopes to achieve through pure and raw struggles without the presence of society, ideally in the brutal wilderness of Alaska. Due to his controversial and fatal actions, many people see him as a clueless idiot as shown in the statement from the question, while others perceive him to be an admirable/noble individual or hero. At first, I personally believed that his actions were outright idiotic, but learning more about McCandless has allowed me to see why others admire him and his actions. Even though I can see this relationship, I simply don't agree with his actions or his mind set. He jeopardizes his whole life and in the end, it will cost him.…

The myth of freedom is introduced as a major theme in both the novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and the film "The Graduate." Each work has evidence on how society controls us based on the conformities and what is "normal." Throughout these stories you can notice patterns on how higher authorizes empower and overrule people in society, which create restrictions towards who the characters are as people. Ken Kesey's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest recognizes how higher authorities are controlling every aspect of their lives, and McMurphy challenges the theme of freedom, in numerous ways, within an enclosed environment.…

Foolish or Honorable? Chris McCandless’s journey outlined by the novel Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer supports that it is simple and indisputable to apprehend that McCandless was not a heroic figure, just one persuaded by inaccurate decisions. McCandless was not your average student, he had a very bright future ahead of him graduating with high honors from one of the country's most prestigious universities; Emory University, however, threw it all down the drain when he took an everlasting adventure hiking into the Alaskan bush unprepared and alone. Many perceive him to be a hero, leaving the social norms one is expected to carry out throughout life, but, many also view him as a fool who wasted all this god given talent, just to die a cold hearted death. 1. Over a hundred people were involved in the production of this film. The entire cast and crew are not given equal credit in most films.
