“The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.” This quote was written on Lily and James Potter’s grave in Godrics Hollow. This quote means that even after death you’ll still be living. That we never truly die, or we never really leave. I think this quote is beautiful in ways more than one. The idea that we can still see the ones we love even after death. To watch over them, and keep them from harm. It makes life more interesting. The way I live by this quote is that even if someone I cherish dies, they’ll never truly leave me. I find the idea comforting. That even though I can’t see them, they can see me and watch over me. We can’t focus on mourning our dead, but celebrate them for moving on to a new life, a life where they can watch

Death, a subject we tent to restrain from in conversation. Wither for personal fear of leaving, or losing someone close to us. Poets Catherine Davis and Dylan Thomas both have different and unique views on the topic of death. One believes we should rage at the end while the other sees all losses being the same after a time. Personally I see death as returning to a place we cannot remember.…

Carnage, death, and destruction - these were the states that the world saw Europe in during the years following the First World War. The Great War is what many historians call it, the war that only lasted 4 years, the war that left Europe in shambles. From the destruction that littered the continent came a form of literature that would cause many to look at the world differently. The novels that were produced in Europe after World War I had the author’s personal views in the books. This is not a bad thing, but when the books that were in demand by the public showed the author’s views in such a magnitude that it came to the point of forcing the reader to accept the views, this is when this style of writing met challenges.…

    Plato's Argument On Death

Death is feared by many, yet in other communities death is celebrated with festivities. It is important that we form our own understanding of death and how it affects us because without an answer to the question “what happens after we die,” we live in fear for our entire lives when we should be enjoying the time we have in this life. The only way we can hope to find a solution to the previously mentioned question is by questioning our existence through philosophy. By this method we may find peace in the answers we find and even if we do not, we deepen our understanding on topics such as death. However, Plato’s argument in the “Phaedo” that ‘one should not be afraid of death because the fear of death would be claiming to know something we do not really know’ is a weak argument.…

What’s the world like the day after you leave it physically? Will your haters still hate on you? Will the ones who once didn’t have a nice word to say about you, praise you at your funeral? Will they care now that you are gone? Many scholars including film director Alfred Hitchcock argue that characters are more important dead than alive and I agree with this statement. It takes death for people to care about you even though it is much too late.…

I was born to a Hindu family – and therefore, I call myself a Hindu, based on the cultural exposures that I have had through my family and my religious community. And yet Hinduism for me is like a foundation, one on which I have built my own perceptions of God and religion, based on my own life experiences. My particular views may therefore seem unique at best, blasphemous at worst – but they will have a great impact on how I act as a patient, and as a physician. Like many Hindus, I believe in reincarnation. Traditionally, reincarnation means that after death, souls are reborn many times to repay their debts, to right their wrongs, and to rid themselves of their past karmas, or deeds, until they are ready to become one with God.…

I think as hard as it is, to let a loved one go, sometimes we have to draw the line. If treatment makes one weaker or is never going to fully rid them of pain, what is the use? At times we want to continue with treatment, but there comes a point when we must stop prolonging the pain, when we know there is not cure. The quote mentions that we are not required to do everything to keep people alive. It is so powerful, because as much as we would like to fight until death takes its toll, sometimes we need to cherish the moments before death.…
