The more attention Katniss gets, then Katniss will able to survive in The Hunger Games. In the novel, Collin writes “Katniss the girl who was on fire” (Collins 67). In the quote, the audience sees Katniss and already starts to love Katniss outfit that Cinna designed for the debut of the opening ceremonies. Cinna wanted to make the audience to like Katniss by telling Katniss just to be herself but forget what Haymitch said about how Katniss looks like. The “Hunger Games” is a dystopia novel written by Suzanne Collins. Is the character in the novel, Haymitch Abernathy a good mentor to Katniss and Peeta is a question been widely debated. In my opinion, even though Haymitch is drunk, but he still keeps sober sometimes to give Katniss and Peeta instructions and he is caring for them all the time, trying to get them sponsors and any sort of help. Therefore, Haymitch Abernathy is a good mentor to Peeta Mellark and Katniss Everdeen.…

Gone are the extravagant dresses, make-up, and femininity as Katniss focuses on only one thing in the Games: survival. “It is interesting to notice how Katniss describes herself in HG15 (a ‘wild, wounded creature’), for it goes against the typical representation of a female protagonist, usually delicate and fragile,” (Pinheiro 158). She no longer exemplifies a feminine identity as she fights to survive in the arena, rather she returns to her pseudo-masculine role from District 12 as a hunter. “Katniss Everdeen must solitarily face danger, and use her hunter’s power to dominate others,” (Guanio-Uluru 217). Being a hunter gives Katniss power over her opponents in the Games and gives her an advantage.…

Katniss is thrown unwillingly into the spotlight and made a celebrity for The Hunger Games. She is wracked with nerves for every interview and appearance she has to make in the lead up to the sadistic reality show but she puts on a smile and fights through it. Katniss is described by her mentor Haymitch as “sullen and hostile”. Throughout the games, Katniss has the internal struggle of choosing between two things, her allies and friends she makes during the games or survival, which means getting back home to her sister Prim and her best friend Gale. At one point, Katniss even attempts to sacrifice herself and a friend in an act of rebellion against the cruel, vindictive President Snow that has supressed, starved and tortured the districts for 74 years.…

Most people in the districts know that if a young girl, like Katniss, was to volunteer and go into the Hunger Games that she would most likely die and not be able to stand her ground. Throughout the whole movie and games, Katniss struggles to prove that she is strong and worthy of this. For example, at one part of the movie, she perfectly aims her arrow right next to all the government officials who refused to pay any attention to her skills. This can be related to the modern day struggle that women still have in this country when competing for army or navy seal positions. Men and even some woman, every day, say how men are physically stronger which means they are much more capable.…

In the science fiction novel, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, it expresses that Peeta Mellark doesn’t seem like a threat to the other tributes in the beginning, but when the games proceed, Peeta Mellark reveals his true colors and his malevolent intentions. Peeta Mellark is a male tribute representing District 12 in the 74th annual Hunger Games alongside with Katniss Everdeen, a female tribute also representing District 12. Peeta is quite appealing because in the start he was acting feeble and anxious, yet he is sentimental, cunning, and dexterous making him prevail the 74th annual Hunger Game. First, Peeta has sentimental affection upon Katniss proving he is just and true meaning Katniss trust Peeta completely. After Katniss realized…
