Candy is a very important character that impacts George and Lennie greatly on their journey to find a job, and opening their own small bunny farm. Candy spent many years of his life as a ranch hand, who actually lost one hand while working. Along with losing his hand he lost all the money he earned while working on the ranch, leaving him poor and in the exact same situation as both George and Lennie. He has a sad, dependent, personality that usually brings down the mood of the group. When Candy joins the lives of George and Lennie he makes it his dream to be part of their dream and have a group to depend on.
