Holden is a very irrational person who doesn't have the best social life and often finds himself in situations where he is lonely and feels he should call up a friend, the song “Don't Close Your Eyes by Kix is a song that describes that vividly. For example, late at night Holden often thinks about himself more than all the phonies he sees throughout his day, and one night, for example, he says “I got up and went over and looked out the window. I felt so lonesome, all of a sudden. I almost wished I was dead’ (Salinger 7).
