Tracy Turnblad Analysis

Tracy Turnblad, from the movie Hairspray, once said, “I think I’ve been in something like a bubble. I’ve been thinking that farness is just going to happen. It’s not. People like me have to get off of their fathers’ laps and go and fight for it!”. This quote perfectly captures the personality of Tracy. She is confident, outgoing, and she stands up for what she believes in. Personally, I find that Tracy and I share these positive traits. We share many similarities in our personality. The Character Tracy Turnblad is a very confident woman. She looks past all those who insult her and tell her she can’t pursue her dreams. Throughout the film, Tracy is mocked for her size. She is told because of her weight; she can’t be a dancer or a performer. She has a spectacular sense of adventure, and she is not afraid to get in a little trouble along the way. She is like a firecracker! For instance, in the movie, Tracy Turnblad skips class to pursue her dream of dancing on “ The Corny Collins Show”. Before this action, she is told not to do this. By cutting class, she risks punishment from her school and parents. Tracy doesn’t give s second thought to the possibility of punishment. Instead, she thinks only about the chance she has at stardom. Moreover, Tracy takes on the police to crash the “Miss Baltimore” beauty pageant. She is out going and not afraid of the possible negative outcomes. I, like Tracy, am outgoing. This is one of the traits that me and this character share. An example of my outgoing personality is when I jumped off of a high, treacherous pier when I was visiting the Cayman Islands. My family and I wanted some adventure, so we found multiple piers to jump off of. I, without overthinking my decisions, jumped into the unforgiving, unknown wildlife
