In ‘Ashes’ by Laurie Halse Anderson, one of the main characters, Curzon changes dramatically throughout the story. In the beginning of ‘Ashes’ Curzon is a bright young man who has gone through lots of hardship but still manages to stay positive. Curzon knows how to protect himself but he will never let anything happen to his loving friend Isabelle. In the beginning, Cuzon, Isabelle, her sister Ruth, and another boy Aberdeen whom Ruth has known for most of her childhood. As they trudge through the woods Curzon becomes the leader and takes care of everybody while developing a strong connection with Isabelle.
