Bernie Sanders personality is very complex. The most important personality characteristics reflected on his behavior and life outcomes are the following; he is an analytic, compassionate, sincere, altruistic, passionate, moral, profound, persistent, wise, hardworking, humble, liberal, private, leader, outspoken, humorous, and caring individual. According to Psychologist Alfred Alder, there is a basic motivation within ourselves to strive for perfection. “Perfection” is not being a perfect individual or living a perfect life, but “It is the desire we all have to fulfill our potentials, to come closer and closer to our ideal.” (Boeree, 1997) Adler further notices that individuals can control their fate and strive for perfection by trying to help …show more content…
Bernie behavior towards the benefit of the greater society, his words of compassion when talking about spirituality or his acts to fight for justice are examples of how he strives for perfection. According to C. George Boeree social interest is expressed with our behaviors by being useful to society “Adler meant social concern or feeling not in terms of particular social behaviors, but in the much broader sense of caring for family, for community, for society, for humanity, even for life.” (Boeree, 1997) One can argue that Sanders background and experiences had a major influence on his personality. Such as coming from an immigrant background, socioeconomic status and religion, had a great impact on his humanistic political agenda. Another important theory of Alfred Adler was the family constellation of each individual, and how it affects each individual in a “unique psychological experience”. Adler argued that “One’s position in the family, presence/absence of parents, and family atmosphere is important.” (Riggion, 2016) Each sibling has a unique experience while growing up in the same …show more content…
Sanders debates and reasons his point of views, but focuses on compromising and looking for solutions to deliver positive results. One can strongly argue that Bernie’s personality is very achievement oriented. During his life Bernie had to overcome many obstacles to become a Senator, such as poverty and coming from an immigrant background. He did not let any of these circumstances define his character, instead he learned to appreciate these limitations. With passion and persistence he has accomplished many important milestones in his life, including becoming mayor of Burlington after many unsuccessful attempts. Another strong personality characteristic of Bernie Sanders is nurturance. He has helped thru legislation, comfort and protect those in need. With compassion and empathy he has tried to help the working class, a class that he understands deeply because of his modest upbringing. To conclude, Henry Murray stressed the importance of understanding personality is rooted in the brain. Our behavior is governed by what our brain thinks, beliefs, fears and values. Controlling the behavior is the “press” and “needs” an unconscious process of personality. Some needs are essential for survival, but some are acquired thru experience and are a predominant characteristic

Samuel L. Jackson once said, “We’ve come a long way in our thinking, but also in our moral decay.” This quote holds true today as society stays rapidly changing and people become more and more desensitized to the horrors of the world. The line between right and wrong fades and turns to a larger gray area, and many things that happen in society today make us question how we, as a collective people, ended up where we are and how we acquired the customs we have today. Aldous Huxley, in his novel Brave New World, uses a great deal of satire and exaggeration to express his concerns for the society he was born into and bring attention to the problems of moral decay, drug dependency, and brainwashing, among other things, in the world.…

At a very early period she had apprehended instinctively the dual life - that outward existence which conforms, the inward life which questions. This paragraph was really well written because it not only gives context (Edna's childhood), but it also exposes a conflict Edna has dealt with her entire life.…

The reader by Bernhard Schlink was published in 1995, as a parable on the post-war reactions to the atrocities of the past by the second generation of Germans towards the actions of the first generation. The book was written in the first person view of the narrator Michael Berg, from the perspective of himself as a 15 year old boy, and later as an approximately 50 year old man. This allows the novel to illustrate the ideas of relationships, guild and responsibility and an attempt to cope with the past in the view of a second generation German to seduce and challenge the views of the 2nd and 3rd generation of Germans. Within the relationships of the book, Michael’s and Hanna’s relationship cannot simply describe as intimate, it’s a lustful…
