Andrew And Hannah Summary

While reading the article, “Andrew and Hannah”, by Pamela Colloff, the one thing I was kept thinking was that all this evidence was very circumstantial. Every piece of evidence they were holding against hannah made no sense, and they could not make scario that fit Hannah’s personality. I do firmly believe that Hannah is innocent meaning that she did not kill her son, but unfortunately she was found guilty by a judge and jury. This made me very upset and I feel deeply sorry that hannah had to go through this process. There were many false stories that depicted Hannah as being as cold-hearted child killer when that is not the case. The most popular story was that hanah force fed excess sodium to andrew by feeding him hot sauce, while holding …show more content…
Since Andrew had pica, an eating disorder that makes people eat inedible things, he was able to eat a lot of salt without his body rejecting it right away. After Hannah woke up and found Andrew showing symptoms of having a common cold, she treated him how you would treat a cold. Then when Andrew started to show signs of distress Hannah tried to help by reading her E.M.T books, but once that did not help she rushed him to hospital where he eventually died due to cardiac arrest. There was nothing Hannah could have done to save him, Andrew already tried to help his body by drinking copious amounts of water, as shown in his autopsy report, but if that did not work, then there was not that much left to try. Andrew’s death was a horrible accident, but due poeple that sought to put the blame on Hannah, her family had to suffer even more by having their mother sent to prison. This story shows how emotion can be used to turn an innocent, church going mother into a cold-blooded child killer. As a result of the jury using their feelings instead of looking at the facts that were given, a family was torn apart and there was nothing they could do. I hope injustice like this nevers happens to another family for it took years for Hannah to released from prison after she was found not guilty of murdering

What do I do, what do I do?! Both Andrew and Katie had to overcome their obstacles, but I believe that Andrew had the hardest obstacle to overcome. His hands would shake, he would sweat, and his legs would wobble. To start off, his hands would shake when he did a public speech. In the first passage it says that when he speaks, he would get nervous, when on the other hand, Katie isn't as nervous to play the game.…

In Just Mercy, Bryan Stevenson depicted clearly the unfair ways the poor and the incarnated were treated in the criminal justice system. Stevenson educated his readers about the death penalty, women’s prison, and youth being tried as adult in the criminal system without being to overwhelm and factual. At the beginning of the book, I felt bad for Jennifer Thompson. My mind was not prepared for what I was about to read. Before this book I thought I had a pretty good understanding of how the Criminal Justice system worked. I also never put much thought in the victim 's role in the matter or what part they played in the process of the trial. Most of all, I had a belief that if you were truly innocent there is no way that you could be convicted of a crime that you did not commit.…

I was very disgusted by the happenings with the McMartin trials. I was shocked, that this would happen at a preschool where many children are sent. This is so sad. Parents trust other people with their kids and don't expect anyone to ever touch their children in this way. However, the article tells us that Judy Johnson ends up going psychotic, I would then believe that she may have made up the story.…
