I have been working part time at Juvenate Health Club for approximately two years, taking on the role of a Leisure Assistant. Initially, my role was fairly casual and was comprised of the basic day-to-day procedures that kept the club running. However, over time I have increasingly taken on more responsibilities and developed a wide range of skills that are certain to help me in the future. The following is a critical report reflecting my time at Juvenate, including the contributions I have made to the club and personal achievements I have gained. However, Juvenate has made me much more aware of how business is conducted on a day-to-day basis. Juvenate is one health club that is owned by a much larger company, 3D Leisure; therefore I benefit because get an insight into how two types of business are conducted. For example I have become more aware of how procedures are handled on a day-to-day basis, but also how this is just a small contribution to a much bigger picture. Furthermore, my immediate manager that I see on a regular basis is also the regional manager for clubs up and down the country. Because of this I am able to get good advice regarding how business are run, what they look for in employees and how to conduct myself for future employers. After critically analysing my progress I would say that the experience in itself has furthered my skills massively and made me a much more desirable employee for the future. Furthermore, the critical analysis process itself has helped me to identify strengths and weaknesses in which I could improve. One area I have learnt I need to improve on includes organisation and time management. I also need to be more confident in my ability. It has been useful analysing the skills I have learnt in my time at Juvenate, and also given me time to reflect on what I would like to do in the future. However, if anything it has helped me realise that I would like to find a job in that is relevant to my Media, Television & Film Studies degree.
