In the novel, I Am Number Four, John changes numerous times, this has a big impact on the book. He relates to any real human changes, we start off young, wild, and hyper. We get friends, hang out with them, think they will always be with us forever until one change. You find someone or others that may be more amusing to you, or more mature. You go from being young, hyper, to mature, and more adult like. For example in I Am Number Four John starts off as an alien kid from a planet called Lorien. All of his life, he has moved around with his Cepan Henri so that he would be safe. As with human kids, when John turned 14 he realized that having friends was more important than running. In the real world you will be punished and even go to jail if you hurt someone. In the novel I Am Number Four John started off a young boy that went to school and never wanted to mess with bullies. For example Mark the bully in the novel, has lot’s of hatred towards John. He always messes with him during schools, takes his things and gets away with it. Throughout the book John changes mentally towards bullies, or mean people in general. He also has his legacies to help him if anything goes wrong, but he gets wild with them sometimes. An example of these changes is when John went to the Halloween parade that his town held, he went there with Sarah and Sam. John then got involved in a fight with Mark and his bully friends, because they were being mean to Sarah. He told them not to mess with Sarah and he then got mad. On pg (150) John says, “ They can do all they want to me, but they will not harm a single hair on Sarah’s head.” But this is when he got reckless with his legacies, and got out of hand. He used his legacies to fight them when they refused to his statement, it didn’t go very well. John started to throw them across the grass field like nothing. It was like a professional MMA fight. Also because he was getting very mad while fighting, his lumen lights started to light up. That led him to even faster and flee away.
