Hello Fellow Scholars!

With one week further into the quarter, we have expanded our portfolio and with that, given the opportunity to grow as writers.

This has been a very eventful week filled with presentations, analyses, and reading. Overall, it has been a good week. A particular triumph this week was the presentation our group hasd to put together and present. It was not to difficult to find information on zombies considering they have a grand role the horror genre for a while now.

In particular to I Am Legend, and the second half of the book. In the first half of the book is a lot of setting the scene and introduction to the world that Robert Neville lives in as well as his place in that world. In the second half we are introduced to new characters and to Neville’s reactions to those new characters.

What other place than college than to try new things? I told myself that I was going to watch the movie for academic reasons, which it was. The movie was not as scary as I had anticipated and the experience was not bad. I can compare the experience to riding a new rollercoaster(which, again, I am not the biggest fan of). The feeling of anxiety beforehand, the thrill during the experience, and the want to do it again after.

As for my writing, I believe it is evolving. I have noticed that I am getting better at effectively writing and getting my point across more clearly. If I am not doing that in my first draft, I always ask myself “Is there a better way of writing this?” as I am

A sentence that really stood out to me was, " Even as a child she had lived her own small life within herself. At a very early period she had apprehended instinctively the dual life - that outward existence which conforms, the inward life which questions. "(Chapter 7) To me, this shows an entirely new side of Edna, one readers weren't really exposed to before. This paragraph was really well written because it not only gives context (Edna's childhood), but it also exposes a conflict Edna has dealt with her entire life.…

In the meantime, I will continue to write because I believe the more I write the better I will be and my goals will be sooner to achieve when I become successful in the…

Legend by Marie Lu was a well written novel; however, there were points in the book that could have been improved. The novel was written in two different point of views. Even though this can become confusing, Marie Lu did a wonderful job at distinguishing between the different point of views. While this was enjoyable in the book, the author was able to create a connection with characters, but then she would kill them off. The author did well by creating characters that felt real to the reader, but the appeal is lost when the characters die, a heroic death or not.…
