“But feelings can’t be ignored, no matter how unjust or ungrateful they seem” was written by Anne Frank because sentiments are in every human being. Everyone person in the world has different emotions. We display and control feelings differently from everyone else. Feelings can overpower someone’s thoughts and influence their decisions, which can affect anyone. From Senators to any job occupation where people work at, sentiments can affect their choices. Humans make important verdicts every single day. People have plenty of problems that they face every day, which affects their mood and thoughts. Even people in power can be driven by their feelings, and commit unethical choices. Morals can be discarded easily due to heighten desires. Desires can be a strong force in humans. As shown in the story, “Death Constant beyond Love” by Marquez, where Senator Sanchez feelings of desire overtook his rational thoughts. Senator Sanchez was given six months and eleven days to live, which was kept as secret to himself. The Senator believed he had found the woman of his life, before his death. The protagonist thought he was better than anyone else. His self-importance contributed to his decisions. Senator Sanchez was a well-liked politician at the beginning of the story. The Senator still tried to campaign for his reelection, despite his terminal illness. On the campaign trail, the Senator has become bitter due to his feeling of his illness. The Senator gave speeches for his campaign, which encouraged people to vote for him, using theatrics to influence the idea that the villagers lives would improve due to his reelection. He would go around in the village and grant favors, which increased his so called prestige image. At the beginning he used great tactics to increase his popularity with the villagers.
