One of the things that has shown that people will try to bring him down is on page 119 where it is said “ Julian has nicknamed him zombie kid…” when they refer to him they are talking about Auggie. This is not said to Auggie, but is told to summer one of Auggie’s friends that he can lean on persay. Auggie most likely had heard the way he was being referred to as, but instead of being sad or mad at them he just blew it off. If he had not already had this situation happen before he would have had a different reaction by being sad or lashing out. Showing that even a bad experience can have a positive impact. On page 51 Summer starts to sit with Auggie “ Hey is this seat taken? Tushman says he’s never been to school.” In this situation Julian is implying that Auggie is stupid just because he hasn’t been to school before. When this is quite the opposite, Auggie is very smart. This sort of sarcastic and even out right malice to him continuous though the book giving bases for his experience to have a more negative on him. But even all these thing may have hurt him in the short run, but will help be able to deal with the real
