Character Analysis: Angela's Ashes '

District Assessment Ashleigh has been tempted by her father to steal money from her mother. She has no idea what her father is going to do with it, but she loves him and will do anything for him. Ashleigh’s parents are divorced. The father of Ashes, his nickname for Ashleigh, is irresponsible. Yet, she still loves her father like any other child would. Ashleigh had gone to a diner with her father, soon into their meal he asks to ‘borrow’ money from her. She doesn’t know if she should, but many signs are telling her she should. Ashleigh is going to steal the money for her father because he’s going to pay her back, she loves him, and she wants to gain more respect from him. Ashleigh’s father is going to pay her back the money, he swore to her. On page 4, “... You,” Dad said. “ I’d be borrowing money from you. And I swear to you, Ashes, I’d have the money in your hands by Friday at the latest.” The father is trying to persuade Ashleigh to make her believe he will be able to pay back the exact amount of money he loans.
