1. Raphael lived in the Smokey Mountains about 3 years ago before it got shutdown and shifted them down along the road.
2. There are many types of materials valuable to Raphael, these include plastic (sold by the kilo), white is best but do get blue. He gets paper, white and clean, glass, tin cans, the occasional t-shirt, pair of pants and anything he can make some pesos out of.

3. Raphael states that him and Gardo might as well be brothers as they have lived together and grew up together side by side, sifting and selling rubbish to make a living well as being the same age.

Gabriel Olondriz tries to sue Senator Regis Zapanta for stealing over 60million pesos which would have gone to hospitals, houses and schools. He was put to jail after he counter sued him bribing the judge and his friends around him. He was a catalyst as he gave them information they needed and encouraged them to go in a direction of that led to them getting justice.
7. Andy Mulligan(the Author of Trash) describes the settings of the book in a fashion of which intrigues you to keep reading and attracts attention by how detailed the mountains of trash lay around them with them living in house made from nothing but cardboard boxes and crates. This relates further into the story by interconnecting the settings with the places they travel to and situate them like they would be in real life.
8. Father Julliard and Olivier play a role in the lives of Raphael, Gardo and Rat as being their Mission school teachers, working a volunteers. These guys were the ones to give them the computer access and the ones to teach them and give food to also. They were enriched by the volunteer work serving impoverished children by having the feeling of helping someone knowing that not only are they changing lives but making this world a better place and becoming part of a bigger change giving children living in poverty
