Chapter Nine: A Case Study In Poor Leadership By Marissa Mayer

It’s interesting how often the problems associated with a failing company, or any kind of organization, come back to ego. The sad tale of Marissa Mayer’s most recent victim Yahoo is no different. Using a wealth of hubris and a belief that all things Yahoo must be of all mighty Mayer she has taken a wounded internet giant and turned it into a toothless hillbilly playing banjo on the front porch of the middle of nowhere.com. To cite her many faults using chapter nine in the text book would be an exercise in simply retyping the entirety of chapter nine. Following first, then leading springs immediately to mind as illustrated in A

It causes problems with trust. How can her executives trust her with anything if she cannot trust them with the smallest of decisions? (2) Mayer has demonstrated autocratic leadership throughout her tenure at Yahoo. One such example was when Mayer forced management to remove an important, revenue generating ad from the site. She self-righteously claimed that it was due to her dislike of the customer experience. This shows very myopic vision of the customer experience. This essay analyzes the opinion editorial “No on Prop 62, Yes on Prop 66,” which was published on OsideNews.com. Proposition 62 aims to repeal death penalty and replace it with life imprisonment without possibility of parole, while proposition 66 is designed to shorten the amount of time that legal challenges to death sentences take to a maximum of five years. In her statement, Sacramento County District Attorney Anne Marie Schubert declares her stance on death penalty in an attempt to convince the readers to veto Proposition 62 and support the Proposition 66. She argues that death penalty should not be abolished because criminals such as child rapists and murderers have not been punished for the heinous crimes that they committed years ago. She also adds that the state is unwisely spending the taxpayer’s money catering to offenders.…

Known as a political commentator, Ann Coulter has a polemic tone that is meant to rile the populace and to incite emotional outrage towards her commentary. Drawing from her points, it is clear that she cares little about the legitimacy and truthfulness of her article, but rather its strength of emotional appeal. Coulter attacks the character of hard working prosecutors and individuals involved in the case, and uses that as a basis for the events that unfold. Piling on with her harsh rhetoric is lines that are merely uncivilized statements that ridicule the overall situations.…
