Chapter Eight B. Wright's Analysis

In chapter eight B, Wright wrote “it should be abundantly clear by now that the mission of God’s people in the Bible is to be the people who God created us to be and to do the things that God calls us to do. (pg 149) I completely agree with this point, but it is far more simplistic to read this statement than it is to live it out. All throughout the Bible, Gods chosen people are questioning who they are, if they are qualified, and if they are effective. For example, looking at the story of Moses in Exodus 3:11, Moses responded to Gods call on his life by saying “‘Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Children of Israel out of Egypt?’” (English Standard Version). Wright shared this perspective almost callously, not identifying

When one examines religion, one often finds a glaring contradiction between the existence an all knowing, all powerful, all loving God, and evil. This is known as the problem of evil, and it has perplexed theists and atheists for centuries. One 20th century philosopher, J.L Mackie, used a formulation of the problem of evil in an attempt to disprove the existence of God. Over the course of his career, he sought to prove that God could not exist alongside evil. While Mackie’s argument is valid, it is not sound.…

Each has its’ differences, theologically, however, both had one thing in common, that God was a God that was out to get me. Growing up, I thought God was only concerned with punishing me and not loving me. I seem to accept Christ in my life every Sunday as a result of the preacher’s sermon. “Considerable confusion on this topic has resulted from trying to think of being lost in terms of its outcome.…

To briefly summarize the philosophical shift that ReLeah Cosset Lent calls the “responsibility breakthrough, it allows the student to learn something they enjoy at a pace, within reason, that is acceptable to learn it. As stated by R. Lent “Too many students have had so little experience making academic choices that they don’t know how to decide.” (Lent, 2010, p.70), in which case students need to learn to take charge of their education and not rely on a teacher to teach them to enjoy certain aspects of education. R. Lent believes that a teacher needs to “Provide as much autonomy as possible in choice of content, task, texts, partners, delivery, due dates, and assessment” (Lent, 2010, p.71) allowing the student to enjoy what they are learning…

Introduction into this book and videos covers how we need to set long term goals, but before doing so we need to ask ourselves some questions. Before we can set those goals we should seek to know Christ. This can be done by reading the four gospels and seeing what Jesus did, what we can learn from him, and how does it relate to us? Jesus’ last commandment was to go and make disciples, and while principles never change, our methods have to change in order to reach the current generation, and each beyond. As we get into the chapters we learn that men are God’s method and while they may seem unlearned or ignorant by man’s standards, God uses those willing to learn and raises them into leadership.…
