I teach my students about graphs for the ACT but not about summarizing. I can see how teaching summarization of science passages can help my students raise their science composite score on the ACT. The three recommendations in Dean’s book for assigning homework to improve achievement are develop school or district policies, give homework to support the lesson, and give feedback on homework (Dean, 2012, p.103). I give homework but limit the number of calculation problems to five or less and it should not take more than thirty minutes to
