Chapter three is about the reasons why students become teachers. Some of those reasons are good reasons and others are more self-centered reasons. It talks about what different types of situations the future teacher will encounter in the classrooms today. One good example of teaching which Herbert Kohl states, specialization does not interest me, and teaching elementary school makes it possible for me to explore many facets of the world and share what I learn (2013, p. 18). It’s important to know what grade level you will be teaching because certain grades will appeal better to you than other grades. You got to know whether you want to dedicate all your time to the children. As a teacher what do you want the students to learn and from that …show more content…
That reason has to do with not choosing a profession that isn’t too demanding and most readily job available on the Navajo Nation. That was my reasons for choosing to teach and also thinking that I’ll teach the way I was which was worksheets and memorization which from my thinking is easy. But now I feel like if I keep that same thinking I’ll only be hindering the children lives by just letting them choose jobs that only require repetitious movement instead of more prestigious professions. Teacher’s different reasons for teaching do affect their life and more importantly the student’s education. Some of those reasons are selfish reasons and other are reasons geared toward the child’s education. As educators we need to be continually conscious of how we say that the child and teacher are equal. Technology helps certain individuals who go beyond just the certain routines and integrates the critical thinking but if they don’t than that where technology hinders their understanding and learning. Through my college education I was focused on just teaching elementary education that I didn’t realized I could focus my attention on one subject that I am passionate about. As future educators we must iterate the meaning or reason why we do certain rather than skipping that and making the lesson a daily

Teachers use computers to type out lesson plans, write papers, research topics for discussion, and even grade papers. Of course, teachers would still be able to do all of those things without technology, it would just take more time. With the development of technology, students have had the privilege of getting their assignments done in a faster amount of time by doing it online instead of writing it on paper. With students typing their papers faster, that leaves more room for teachers to teach more. Our society is becoming more digital by the day. There is no way of escaping…

At the same, Tapscott asserts that a teacher’s role in students’ learning should be minimal by acting as a facilitator. On the other, Clifford Stoll, author of “Makes Learning Fun,” asserts a teacher’s role should be more traditional as before technology had a scene in our life or education. He does not equate learning as fun but a process of rigorous training, therefore, technology has no place in our classrooms. Stoll believes that technology only serves as a distraction for students’ learning; also, technology dulls our minds by promoting a “lack” of learning, and it only gives instant gratifications while “commercializing” school. Although both authors make valid arguments to a certain extent, their arguments are subjective since they only provided biased evidence. Technology should play a role in education but not replace a teacher. A good teacher not only teaches or facilitates but both, as well as knowing how to use the right tools to help facilitate students’ learning. Technology is one of these tools, it is a product of our rigorous learning, so we should use it to…

I grew up desiring to make a difference in this life. It was not until I went to Azusa Pacific University (APU), I realized the way I would make a difference in this world and to contribute to society, is through becoming a teacher. Education changes lives. I want to be a great teacher, and I know that I must prepare myself to be one. That is why I decided to not only enroll into the credential program, but also pursue a Master’s degree. Education is evolving and we are living in an era where almost everyone is technically savvy. As educators, we must follow the trends in technology. Not too long from now, schools will only use technology and will become paperless. We must be ready to teach an all tech classroom. This is the reason I felt that getting a degree in Digital Teaching would be for myself best interest and for my students, overall.…

Students’ education has changed over the years and the reason for it is technology. For hundreds of years teachers have used books, paper, and pencils to teach their students, but for the last few years technology has become part of everyone’s life in one way or another. Students and teachers are getting their technology through the classroom and it has impacted student learning. Technology has positively impacted student learning because they have more motivation, self-esteem, are completing complex tasks and help others more, while it has the negative impact of poor work and shorter attention span to tasks.…

Being an effective educator also is developed from being able to inspire and motivate your children to learn. In being an educator, you must never become too complacent in your career because with this world of cutting edge technology there is always room to grow and to enhance your teaching abilities. “Teachers with high perceptions of educational technology self-skills have high perceptions of classroom management skills. This result may be attributed to the experience in the use of educational technology” (Varank & Ilhan, 2013).…

Teaching is no longer the standard blackboard and chalk, but is the inclusive of everyday technology to inspire students to grow with items such as Smartboards and Edmodo. Reflection requires understanding the nature of reasons and their methods, logic, and justification (Mezirow, 2003, p.61). As a student at Trident University I have been taught the concept of evaluating each theme represented, the importance of the integration of technology as a method to improve an aspect of teaching and help topics become more engaging and interactive for students, along with it being imperative to look at each student individually to be able to pinpoint where they stand and the type of resources or skills they need to acquire to be able to progress within their educational career. Many may think that these approaches are time consuming and could be resolved by simply grouping children in a streamlined manner. While this is true and an easy possibility, an educator may miss that golden opportunity to reach the student on their level and encourage them to blossom. Each child is unique and inherits an individual style of learning. In this process educators are able to open up a world where students can explore learning through a multitude of methods and practices which I find to be important to understand and incorporate in my line of work. Children are capable of adapting their style of learning if we take the time to properly assess and introduce different approaches to ensure their…

Back in Spring Quarter 2013 I had the chance to go observe a local high school in the LAUSD, being there helped me led my decision of being an educator even more now. Being able to observe the students helped me see the different student’s behavior that I will need to do work with. I recall when I was there seeing two students who will just not worry about doing their work done and the teacher not doing much to encourage them. After observing those two students it helped me led to the decision on becoming a teacher even more and that is to make a difference in teen’s lives through education. The main reason being is being able to educate the future generations by teaching them their own potential at a young age. By having them learn their…

Teaching is a popular profession, but an underappreciated one. Teachers are the people who shape and inspire the next generation of scientists, inventors, writers, and artists. Without teachers, progress with knowledge and, technology would come to a standstill. Everything would come to a halt intellectually and technologically if there were no longer any teachers. Teachers are under payed and often blamed for events that they have no control over inside and outside of the classroom. In other countries such as Switzerland, teachers are as respected as lawyers and doctors, so why are the views so different in America? This is why I want to become a teacher, to help with the continuation of growth, the inspiration of children, and equal opportunities…

Craig Groeschel, Senior Pastor of Lifechurch.tv, once said, “In order to reach people no one else is reaching, you are going to have to do things no one else is doing.” I believe the same can be said when it comes to education. Technology makes it easy for students to receive instant gratification from the many games, music, and social media that surrounds them. Unfortunately, the lack of these things to keep students engaged in class often leaves students uninterested in classwork. This can lead to low test scores and, devastatingly, a lack of knowledge for the student. It is important for teachers to explore multiple different approaches in keeping the interest of their students. I believe that utilizing the interests of students,…

Children spend more time throughout the year with their teacher than they do with their families and “what teachers say and do every day can have a tremendous impact on the lives of their students,” (Nieto, 2006, P.3, Para. 1). That is why I believe that teachers hold one of the most influential jobs in our society. They are providing children with the necessary tools to become productive members of society. Education is essential to societies future and teachers are the practitioners that inspire the next generation to make their country a better place through their dreams. Because of this teachers are not only responsible for the students they teach, they are also responsible for the profession and the general public.…

Education plays a huge role in the development of a person and his or her success in life. When teaching a child, it is important to consider his or her vantage point and needs. Children have a unique mind, and it is our job as teachers to bring out their best and help them to reach their full potential. A classroom should be a place where students are able to feel comfortable and be themselves, almost like another world where they can escape. The environment of the classroom should be a safe and uplifting atmosphere. The role of a teacher is to correct and imply certain things when needed, but the child’s investment in learning should be the focus with the teacher helping him or her to discover who he or she is through academics. Throughout life, there will be many obstacles to overcome, and having an education to fall back on will help ensure success. Having an education can allow stability and balance, bringing a more self-dependent life. Dr. Seuss once quoted, “You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!” Growing up, I would read his children’s books that were very inspiring and inspirational to me. As I look at how I see my future self as a teacher, I want to have a teaching style that is relaxed and encouraging, teaching strategies that…
