Chapter 2: The Habit

Chapter 2: The Habit Life sucks! Either you have discipline to work toward your goals or you lack discipline and end up in a life you never wanted to live. Discipline is a funny word.
On one hand, it is something you really wish you had a ton of and, on the other hand, it reminds you of a mindless robot and makes you feel like discipline means giving up on your freedom. Some will even say that daily discipline on a subject is a form of obsession.
I believe that every individual has discipline. One of the biggest problems that people have in terms of discipline is that when they set out to achieve a goal, they set way too high a goal. Not that you shouldn't set high goals; you should, but the second after you have done it, you should

I'm a strong believer in small actions taken often, and the smaller they are, the better.
Let's say you want to set up an online store that sells wine. Put your ass down in the chair and write down seven tasks that you need to do to have a wine-selling on- line store. When you have done those seven tasks, you will have seven areas that you need to work on. Think about it and add seven sub-tasks to each of those seven subjects. You now have 49 tasks. Decide which tasks have the most impact on the goal, and do those first.
That is the core of the 80/20 principle. Make those sub-tasks something that you can achieve in 15 minutes or less. The 15 minute task could be something as simple as "contact a website designer," and if you can accomplish one task like that every day, then very soon, you'll have a wine selling website!
The habit I'm going to tell you about will have a huge impact on your health, fi- nances, and your goals. This habit will save you time, which you can use to do small 15minute tasks on your goals. You don't need massive discipline to achieve the kind of life you desire.

In order to change individual habits you need to understand how the Habit Loop works within our brain, which takes a three- step loop: the cue, the routine, and the reward. Williams James wrote in 1892 that most of the choices we make each day may feel like products of well-considered decision making but they’re not. They are actually habits. Habits can be as simple as how we order our meals, how often we exercise or even what we say to our children each night. It is essential to understand how our brain stores different functions, how habits emerge and how the Habit Loop works within our brain.…
