Chapman's Camp Narrative

These chain of events all start at Coltin and Walker Chapman's camp out in Republic during the summer of 2008 to 2009 or 4th grade summer to 5th grade summer. The drive out to Coltin and Walker’s camp always feels like forever because you just want to get there and swim or going on four wheeler rides. It's different because as a kid all I wanted to do was play video games but when we went out to their camp that was the last thing in my mind. I'm going to talk about the 4th and 5th grade years spent at Coltin and Walker’s camp.
The day started like any other, we would get up early at Coltin and Walker’s house and would have a big breakfast that their Dad would make for us. We would then leave around twelve to go to the camp. The car was always

When we arrived we had unloaded the car and put in a frozen pizza. Walker came up with the idea that we were gonna make our own huge dirt ramp to jump bikes off of. I had never hit dirt jumps or even went off a jump on my bike, but I didn't see any harm in it. After lunch, we took shovels from the garage and started to make the jumps. I had hit the jump at an angle and I went over the handlebars. The handlebar had went up and hit the side of my temple. I was going to get up off of the ground and the back bike tire had hit me on the back of the head and I stayed on the ground. At that point in time I was embarrassed and just hurt, I didn't want to move. Ken came rushing out of the house with a Walmart bag full of frozen vegetables and a roll of bandages. He wrapped my head up with bandage and the frozen vegetables it was weird because it felt like

In the short story, “From B’wood to the Hood” the author Ryan Smith talks about the struggle of moving from one side of town to the other side. The first thing that stuck out to me in the story was when the author says, “I broke the news to my mother that I was moving from Brentwood to the hood”. This reminds me of when I recently decided to tell my mom that I was moving to Denver, Colorado from Lancaster, PA. Although she did take the news better than I thought, she still tried to talk me out of moving. She eventually started to support me with my new endeavor in life and she wound up driving out to Colorado with me the last week of July. Another thing that popped out at me while reading was “my father separated from my mom”.…

Walking in the thick woods of Camp Cornhusker, the sun is seeping through the treetops while walking into what seems like a thousand thorny bushes. When everyone stops for a water break, someone counts to make sure that everyone is all there. “Seven people.” announced Ian, a tall slender guy who always has a bandana wrapped his neck for some odd reason. In a very concerned voice the leader of the group, Zach Cole who works as the aquatics director, quizzically recited the number seven to himself, “didn’t we just have eight?”…

It was a beautiful morning, and I was about to have a big week ahead of me. I was thirteen years old when I embarked on a journey to go camping with my church friends at a place called the Wilds.
