First, take off the oil drain plug with a socket wrench and let the old oil drain into the oil pan. It is important to check the old oil to see if it is red. If it’s red that means the transmission fluid has been drained instead of the oil. Then replace it with the new transmission fluid and find the plug for the oil. After the oil comes to a very slow drip, clean the oil drain plug and put it back in place with the torque specifications.
Now that the oil pan is full of oil, place it under the filter housing and slowly remove the filter. There will be a lot of old oil in the filter, taking it off slowly and carefully put the filter in the oil pan. Because the filter it will get hot when the engine is running.
