A topic that is debated among many around the nation is changing school cafeteria menus to healthier food options. Many schools serve unhealthy food because they know that the kids will eat it and in their minds that is a good thing but it's not so much of how much you put in your body but it's the quality of food you put in your body. They are actually hurting the kids by giving them the unhealthy food, but if schools were to change to a healthier menu then they can keep serving delicious food and they will also make it healthier. I believe that they should change the menus because it will help control the kid's diets, it will help teach kids how to eat healthier, and it will also teach them that eating healthy doesn't always mean it's going …show more content…
If they switch to healthy foods then they can help control what the kids it for one to two meals a day which can have a huge impact on a kids life. For example, in my school they don't allow the cooks to use butter so that it can help make our food healthier. We don't notice the difference in the taste of the food but we do know it is healthier for us and that we are doing our body a huge favor by eating healthier. By our school just taking that small step, it has caused our lunch room food to be healthier and safer to eat. Having healthier foods on the menu will also help teach kids how to eat healthy. Kids may think that they know how to eat healthy but once they hit the real world they will realize that they really don't know how. If we were to prepare them by serving healthy food in the cafeteria then it would have such an influence on them that they would remember what to eat and what not too eat. That is one way that we can help kids before they reach the real world and when they have to be out on their own. This will also help control the nations obesity problem because if our kids know how to eat healthy then they will pass that knowledge on to other kids and that will start a chain reaction that will in turn help with the nations obesity problem and many
