Timeline of 10 Key Dates A. 1914 - World War I begins B. 1919 - The Paris Peace conference and Treaty of Versailles C. 1929 - The United States experience a crash in the stock market, this time was known as the Great Depression D. 1933 - Hitler becomes chancellor, improving himself in the public eye and gaining support E. 1939 - World War 2 begins F. 1945 - The bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki eventually lead to the surrender of Japan and the end of the war G. 1959-1975 - The Vietnam war, US soldiers were sent in to aid south Vietnam against communist North Vietnam (and the USSR) H. 1986 - The Cold War between Communist Soviet Union and Capitalist America begins, “the war that didn 't happen”
