They were installed in the Old North Church in Boston, Massachusetts. This set consisted of eight bells ranging in weight from 600lbs-1,680lbs. One of the original change ringers of these bells was the infamous Paul Revere. Bell rope makers will take a 20 feet piece of rope and unravel a section of the rope, string strands of lambs wool thru the core making a part of the rope called the sally. The sally provides a soft spot for ringers to get a bell swinging. Ringers start by swinging their bells in a descending order from the highest note to the lowest note. This is called chiming.
