It gave exquisite details on how each individual part happened and how each character responded. Supporting my thesis, the novel was more intriguing than the movie. Each event was described clearly, whereas in the film many were left out or unspoken of. I feel as if the movie focused on just the main parts of the story, but in the book every little obstacle was written out. Therefore, I have given various examples as to why the book was better than the film, along with the major similarities and differences of the…

The movie added many new things to the script that were not originally in the book. One thing they added was the addition of flashbacks. In the movie, the script writers gave George flashbacks of when his son Harrison was taken away, which was a feature not implemented in the story. Another feature they added into the…

I mainly focused on the changes related to the characters, between the film and the book. I would like to explain some of the parts I thought were important. Firstly, about the changes related to Liesel. At the beginning of the film, Liesel's brother dies with two eyes both open, in Mum's arms.…

There are many differences occurred in the book and the movie of A Wrinkle In Time and And Then There Were None. I believe the director changed the movie so the viewers would understand it more and so the movie won’t be 5-6 hours long. I also think that they changed it is so people would understand it more, and some of the things in the book were hard to actually do in real life and in the time the movies were produced. There are many differences between the book and movie of A Wrinkle In Time.…

Paper Towns: Book vs Movie I’ve chosen to write about the differences between the book Paper Towns and the movie, basically what they didn’t include and what they changed in the film adaption. Personally I would say that I prefer the book before the movie, because the book is obviously more detailed and you get to read about the character's backstory and get to know them better. The author, who co-produced the film, made a video on youtube where he talked about the fact that the movie will be like the book but at the same time it will not.…

Also, the characters portrayal is much different when comparing the book and movie. Lastly, there is a significant difference in the chemistry and feelings of love, at least that are portrayed in the book are nonexistent in the movie. One major aspect that plays a large role in book to movie adaptations is the screenwriter’s ability to transform the book. The screenwriter must be able to not only transform the book, but he must have the critical adaptability to make it successful. “This involves first distribution, then audience reception.”…

“The world is made up of two classes- the hunters and the hunted.” This famous quote can be found in Richard Connell’s short story The Most Dangerous Game. This quote is also mentioned in the film version of this short story. This is one of the similarities between these two versions. However, there are also differences between the two, including characters besides the two main, Robert Rainsford, and General Zaroff, plot events, setting, and resolution.…

Ironically due to the storyline; the book is better than the movie, because it is shows better description, character analysis, and it gets the point across to the reader to show what leads up to the main idea. While, the movie it is more vague and fast paced so it's hard to comprehend the storyline. The book is more illustrative than the movie. For example, the…

There are many differences between the movie and the book such as how Max and Kevin become Freak The Mighty, the millpond scene, and the use of King Arthur. Maxwell and Kevin became friends at the fireworks and Max decided to give Kevin a lift because he couldn’t see the fireworks because of his disease. Max and Kevin became known as Freak The Mighty because of what Max had done at the fireworks by giving Kevin a lift to be able to see the fireworks, and after the fireworks Max and Kevin had been getting chased by Blade and his Goons. Kevin and Maxwell became great friends after that due to the fact that they have been against Blade and his goons being chased around all of the time.…

In “The Landlady”, Billy Weaver is lured into a seemingly normal bed and breakfast by an old lady who, despite her gentle and unthreatening appearance, wants to kill him. It is a story about how those with cruel intent may take advantage of those who are innocent and naive. Although the book and the movie can be arguably similar if generalized, there are many differences that may change the way a reader/viewer may grasp the concept of the story. Since a movie and book cannot be exactly the same, the film version is bound to have things that differ from the text. One example of how the book develops the development of the story is with the setting.…

I remember growing up watching The Secret Garden (1993) over and over again falling in love with the magic that seemed to be there. Taking two miserably selfish children and seeing them transform into laughing loving children and a father finally coming home to his son touched my soul again and again. It would leave me in tears each time and still does today. This adaptation follows closely to the original story The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. It only changed in a couple ways that made it a better movie than if it followed the book line for line.…

It seems an unfair view to expect a movie about a book to be exactly the same down to every single detail. Communities of fans will always find something wrong with a story, for it has “failed” to match expectation. Books are a place where someone can be dragged into the story and forget about everything else for a short while. Movies do the exact same thing, except it is seen as an easier way than books for a lot of people. Ignoring obvious differences (such as the fact that one is in picture form, and the other is in words), movies and books may not be so different after all.…
