Change In High School

Over time people change, some might say change is a good thing. Well, it depends what type of change you’re talking about. The people you grow up with aren’t the same anymore, your best friends have turned into “followers.” This type of change occurs in high school so often, I’m proud to say that I am my own person, someone who doesn’t try to fit the mold of anybody else. Conformity is a huge problem within high schools. People think that you have to dress, talk, and act like others in order to fit in. I have tried to avoid that for my whole high school career. All through high school I’ve had people telling me “why do you always wear Nike clothing ?” My answer to this is that I do not change myself for others

It’s tough to stand out of the crowd and be yourself by not doing what the majority of the people do. One of the times this happened to me was when I had a few friends over at my house but when one other person came over and suggested we should go spend the night at his house instead of mine. Everybody agreed because he is popular and they didn’t want to tell him they wanted to stay at my house so they told him what he wanted to hear instead of doing what they wanted to do. Most people say what people would like to hear instead of saying what they believe in, but this is an issue that I don’t struggle with. One of my best qualities is being able to be myself I guess you could say it’s always come easy to me, I don’t get why people would ever want to be someone they are not I love being the person I am and expressing my beliefs and opinions. I always tell it how it is I don’t change my story to what people want to hear, this has got me into some trouble but people respect for having the guts to tell them how I really feel. Conformity is everywhere, we all see it. You have to have the ability to throw it aside and follow yourself, not others. I choose to not worry what people listen to or the new pair of shoes that everybody wants and worry about what I want to listen to and what shoes I want to wear. In the end it comes down to who I want to
