Upon stating the public health issue, the key elements of the public health issue, and the goals that are hoped to be achieved, further thought out strategies led to the question- How to improve the testing procedure already in place for Zika? Two public health approaches were concluded to possibly function as a solution: Change Implementation and Management and Performance Improvement Systems. Change Implementation and Management relates directly to a purely public health change implementation and management intervention component (Argosy University, 2016). The Community Themes and Strengths Assessment provides qualitative information on how communities perceive their health and quality of life concerns as well as their knowledge of community resources and assets regarding the Zika virus. This tool will be useful if a town hall meeting was held where surveys were passed out. This event will allow members of the community to meet local community health officials and discuss health concerns and health goals the community has interests in. The Local Public Health System Assessment will assist with the assembling a subcommittee to review/answer if they are providing the community with quality care via the core functions and essential services of public health. The survey responses will give insight on how to evaluate the services provided, apply modifications as needed, and reassure the community that the public health sector has a competent workforce and leadership component that seeks to provide optimal healthcare services. The Community Health Status Assessment involves the overall health of the community. Data is collected to identify (make an assessment) a health issue based on the community’s concerns, e.g. increased rate of Zika transmission. This phase entails a collaborative and creative approach that leads to a shared community vision and common values. Much like any partnership, there is a common goal or vision that needs to be achieved. So, among developing partnerships that led to success; visions and goals should be discussed thoroughly with the best interest of the community’s health, e.g. innovative commercials or billboards that catch the attention of the public and deliver important information about prevention and testing options of Zika within the community. Expanding efforts by way of collaborating with state and local laboratories, e.g. Georgia Department of Public Health Laboratory, allows for utilization of equipment and experienced staff to help with workload of Zika testing. Partnering with local colleges and universities, e.g. Georgia State University, University of Georgia, allows the organization to utilize the student body/professors for research efforts if needed, e.g. Research and Development projects, e.g. assessing more efficient workflow options to test for Zika virus and new testing technologies that increase output of samples, e.g. Real-time
