She reluctantly drags herself out of the cot she has for a bed and wakes Cole from his sleep on the other side of the room. It is time for Le Jour de L'activation*, which means Cole will be forced to find his powers, as he was now seven years old. Chandler, on the other hand, has been mastering hers for years, she knows how to fully levitate any object and how to freeze the time around her if need be. Although, Chandler isn’t fully sure how the teachers are aware she freezes them since she is the only one who knows that time has stopped. Chandler has also built up a tolerance for using her powers. Once she first began she could use her powers for less than thirty seconds before collapsing in weakness. She worries Cole will struggle with this, but using your powers and gaining strength will always come with practice. Despite this fact, Chandler sees that Cole is very optimistic about finding his powers, and she assures him that it is unlikely he will turn out a pas magiques like his parents. Chandler’s only desire is to keep Cole and her together, which in the long run would ensure his safety. Chandler couldn’t care less about the other children getting taken by the Masters, no matter how close she is to them, Chandler knew to think of herself and her family first. Even if it took leaving the only place she’s known her entire life.
Chandler instructs Cole to pack a bag of crucial items, and she does the same. She knows that the only way they can truly stay together is to run away to the unexplored world and make it their new home. Chandler doesn’t know what this world will hold for them, but she is certain that anything will be better her and her brother’s separation. She cannot let anyone know of her plans to escape the masters, she just has to go through with them as soon as possible so no one can stop her. It’s past eight o’clock now, and all lights will be out now. Children are forbidden to go outside after lights out, it is seen as too dangerous, but this is the perfect time to get
