During my Introduction to Business class, the two gentlemen covered different topics about the Chamber of Commerce and on how to start a business. For example, they mentioned that the Chamber of Commerce promotes a strong local economy in Porterville by promoting other events such as the Iris Festival, different events on Main Street, and Children’s Christmas Parade. Another thing that the Chamber of Commerce does is promote tourism. The city of Porterville benefits when people outside of town come here to spend their money, therefore, the Chamber of Commerce promotes places such as the Mighty190, the Sequoia National Forest, Lake Success, and Eagle Mountain Casino.
